Europe Top Team product Antonio Mendes will reportedly return to action at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event on January 17 in Dublin, Ireland, which will most likely serve as UFC 93, according to Tatame.com.
Although he gave Thiago Silva trouble early on at his UFC debut at UFC 84 in May, Mendes eventually fell to Silva, tapping out due to strikes at 2:24 of the first round. Prior to the bout, Mendes had gone on an eleven-fight winning streak.
Mendes could possibly take on Andre Gusmao at the UFC’s first overseas event of the new year. Gusmao was also defeated in his UFC debut, dropping an unanimosu decision to fellow newcomer Jon Jones at UFC 87 in August.
