Mayweather Slams UFC, White Fires Back

Last week, “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather Jr., shocked MMA fans when he bashed the UFC and their light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell during a conference call to promote his fight with Oscar De La Hoya.

“UFC ain’t shit,” he said. “It ain’t but a fad. Anyone can put a tattoo on their head and get in a street fight.” He singled out UFC poster boy Chuck Liddell for an extra overhand right. “We should put Liddell against a good heavyweight, under Mayweather Promotions, and if Chuck wins, then I’ll give him a million dollars out of my own pocket.” PBF then shoe-shined all MMA fighters. “These are guys who couldn’t make it in boxing,” he said. “So they do (MMA). Boxing is the best sport in the world and it’s here to stay.”

Not only were fans unhappy, but UFC president Dana White also expressed his displeasure during a media conference call on Monday.

“You know, Floyd Mayweather just came out and said some stupid s—- about Chuck Liddell,” White said.

“We should put Liddell against a good heavyweight, under Mayweather Promotions,” Mayweather said last week. “If Chuck wins, then I’ll give him a million dollars out of my own pocket.”
“(He said) he’d pay a million dollars if Chuck could hang with a heavyweight boxer,” White said Monday. “How about if he pays a million dollars to see if a heavyweight boxer can fight MMA with Chuck Liddell? Or, even better, I’ll put up a million dollars of my own money if Floyd Mayweather can sell more than 10 tickets without Oscar De La Hoya.”

I guess when sport is DEAD you have to take shots at the top to try and sell tickets.  I say Dana throw alot of jack at this fool to step in the octagon, that would be the funniest thing ever.  i would bet all the money i could grab that Chuck would last longer in boxing than floyd would last in mma!!!  easiest bet ever.

Dana White, i applaud you… ha

Could you imagine what a ride a guy like mayweather would be in for if someone took him down to the ground.  Or if he had to put up with kicked in the legs over and over.

i dunno, seems to me like everyone is comparing apples to oranges.  the sports may share some similarities but the bottom line is that they are different sports.  its like football and rugby.  Craig O is right when he says boxing is dead… or at least its well on its way to the grave.

Liddell v. Mayweather in MMA wouldn’t be too different than them in a boxing match.  We all know Liddell isn’t taking anyone down to the ground.  When was the last time Liddell faced a real precise striker anyway???

Regardless of whether or not he took someone to the ground it doesnt mean he cant.  To think that he trained to fight Randy Cotoure three times, and Sobral twice and never trained on the ground is rediculous.  Dont forget about kicks and knees and all that jazz.

Its true the boxing sport isnt the main highlight like it used to be.
People have moved on to newer better things.
They are being offered a better package and thats exciting.
Hey Floyd have fun with your Atari.
I thought you were pretty cool till you stuck your nose into a business that has nothing to do with you.
Do like your Mama said mind your own Business.

hey, i cant help but think that boxers would have a home in mma once enough of them realize that their home has been dismantled from within. nothing against chuck (love the guy)but he doesnt spend alot of time on the ground either, he has 1 heck of sprawl tho. I think boxers could contribute a great deal to MMA if they picked up on some of the other stuff.as good as chuck is there are some better strikers in boxing. Think about it thats all they do..Just as this sport has evolved tons since 93,wait another 14 yrs.but mayfether is a punk! pull a Randy couture, Hoya
