A knee injury suffered during training has forced middleweight contender Martin Kampmann to withdraw from his June 16th bout with Rich Franklin in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A new opponent for Franklin is currently being sought for the UFC 72 main event and will be announced shortly.
Kampmann (15-2) is undefeated in the UFC with victories over Crafton Wallace, Thales Leites, and Drew McFedries. The UFC is currently looking for a replacement and at this point it Yushin Okami seems like a logical choice.
Feel free to comment on who you’d like to see step in for Kampmann at UFC 72.
