The Maximum Fighting Championship has announced that UFC veterans Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald and Travis Lutter will do battle at MFC 22: Payoff on Friday, October 2 at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton, Alberta.
“This is a mega-fight – the best matchup and exactly the fight we wanted for our fans,” said MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich. “Both MacDonald and Lutter are tremendous competitors with great skills, and I think there is a grudge building up between them.
“I’ve spoken to Jason personally about this fight and I can tell from his demeanor that he has some bad intentions for Lutter. Frankly, it has been very rare throughout his career to hear Jason talk like this so it’s easy to tell that he is gearing up for it. And I know from Lutter’s camp that he is primed for this big opportunity. We couldn’t ask for anything more in setting up this clash.”
MacDonald possesses a mixed martial arts record of 21-12-0. MacDonald secured victories over Jason Lambert, Joe Doerksen, Rory Singer, Chris Leben, and Ed Herman while fighting for the UFC. MacDonald last fought for MFC in ’06 when he submitted Neil Berry.
Lutter, a native of Dallas, Texas, possesses a MMA record of 9-5-0. Lutter holds victories over Marvin Eastman, Mark Epstein, Jose Landi-Jons, and Patrick Cote.
