Despite previous reports stating that Travis Lutter would be returning to the UFC to face Joe Doerksen at UFC 91 on November 15, it seems that a bout between the two at the event is unlikely. Lutter has denied the news, saying that a potential fight against Doerksen at the event is nothing more than a rumor in a recent interview with MMA Rated.
“That was never true,” Lutter said in the article. “I’m hoping to make it back to the UFC at some point, but right now I’m not under contract with the UFC. I talked to (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva when the rumors came out and he knew nothing about it. I don’t know how these things get started.”
Both Lutter and Doerksen were released from the UFC following their respective losses at UFC 83 on April 19. Lutter hasn’t fought since while Doerksen recently won a split decision over John Meyer at a Vipers MMA promoted event in Calgary on August 29.
