Former UFC middleweight title challenger David Loiseau struggled against former “Ultimate Fighter” cast member Solomon Hutcherson before eventually putting Hutcherson away in the fifth round of their championship bout Saturday night at XMMA 5 in Quebec.
Both fighters exchanged takedowns early and often in the fight, with Loiseau gaining the edge in the later rounds. With both visibly exhausted heading into the fifth and final round, Loiseau was able to pin Hutcherson up against the cage and deliver a series of knees in the clinch that buckled him and quickly forced the referee to step in and stop the bout.
The co-main event saw UFC veteran Aaron Riley survive an early scare from XMMA co-founder Steve Claveau in the first round before controlling him over the next two en route to a unanimous decision win. Also victorious on the card was IFL veteran Brent Beauparlant, who earned a second-round TKO of Brandon Sene.
