Sentencing for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones' May 19th misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated after crashing his vehicle into a Binghamton, New York telephone pole has been postponed a second time.
The news was first reported by Gannett Press Connects.
Jones' hearing will now take place on July 31. His lawyer, Thomas D. Jackson, asked judge Daniel L. Seiden for additional time to complete a required drug and alcohol evaluation and the extension was granted.
A pair of passengers suffered minor injuries during the springtime crash. Jones was reportedly cooperative with police officers but was visibly intoxicated and refused to take part in any field sobriety tests.
The 24-year-old is expected to receive a fine of up to $1,500 and avoid jail time pending that he adhere to all court-mandated requirements, which will also include the installation of an ignition interlock system in his automobile as well as additional classes.
