Sherdog.com is reporting that former UFC lightweight champion Jens “Little Evil” Pulver has withdrawn from his fight at WEC 30 due to a knee injury suffered while training.
The highly-anticipated World Extreme Cagefighting arrival of former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver (21-8-1) has been indefinitely put on hold, sources close to the Miletich champ told Sherdog.com Monday evening, due to a knee injury suffered by the popular fighter last Friday.
Pulver was scheduled to make his WEC debut against Cub Swanson (11-1) on Sept. 5 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The fight would have marked Pulvers first appearance in the 145-pound weight division.
Update: 7:44 PM: - MMAWeekly caught up with Jens Pulver who confirmed and commented on his knee injury.
“I had staph, so I didn’t get to roll or do anything real physical. Then I started rolling and got my foot caught underneath [my training partner] while doing a guard pass. My leg bent out at the knee and I could feel it pop. The only thing now is an MRI to find out if it’s my ligament or my meniscus,” stated Pulver.
