World Extreme Cagefighting announced late Friday that the promotion has postponed it’s upcoming event on September 10 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida due to the potential landfall of Hurricane Ike on the state of Florida.
“Due to the potential of a major hurricane hitting the South Florida area on Wednesday we were compelled to postpone the event,” WEC Vice President of Operations and Production Peter Dropick said in a press release. “For the safety of our fans, the fighters and our staff we felt it was in the best interest to make this decision.”
The show, which will be headlined by WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber defending his belt against Mike Thomas Brown, has been moved to November 5. Tickets already purchased for the event will be honored on the new date. Those seeking a refund can obtain one through their point of purchase.
