Midwest Training Center product John Hosman has been tapped to replace an injured Kenji Osawa against submission specialist Rani Yahya in a bantamweight bout at WEC 42, which takes place on August 9 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
World Extreme Cagefighting confirmed the previously rumored switch on their official website earlier today. Osawa suffered a foot injury during a recent training session and will be sidelined indefinitely.
Hosman, who trains alongside WEC veterans Chase Beebe and Kevin Knabjian, is currently riding a five-fight winning streak. His last victory occurred at XFO 30 on May 2, where he scored a first-round submission of Courtney Landis. Yahya enters the bout following a pair of consecutive submission wins over Yoshiro Maeda and former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland.
The updated fight card for WEC 42 is as follows:
Miguel Torres vs. Brian Bowles (WEC Bantamweight Title)
Joseph Benavidez vs. Dominick Cruz
Ricardo Lamas vs. Danny Castillo
Takeya Mizugaki vs. Jeff Curran
Leonard Garcia vs. Jameel Massouh
Rani Yahya vs. John Hosman
Fredson Paixao vs. Cole Province
Marcus Hicks vs. Shane Roller
Ed Ratcliff vs. Phil Cardella
Diego Nunes vs. Rafael Dias
