In his past two fights, Horn was suffered consecutive losses for the first time in eight years. After being caught in a rare submission against Nate Marquardt in February, Horn tapped out to the same hold against grappling wizard Dean Lister at “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs Team Forrest Finale” last month.
Meanwhile Gouveia recently had a four-fight winning streak snapped in May, being stopped by way of strikes at the hands of newcomer Goran Reljic in the second round of their bout at UFC 84: Ill Will. Prior to the loss, Gouveia scored his biggest career win to date, a brutal knockout of veteran Jason Lambert in January. It’s unknown whether or not the fight against Horn will take place at middleweight or light heavyweight.
