The UFC has announced that Ed Herman and Scott Smith will clash in a middleweight contest at the organization’s inaugural event in Ireland, UFC 72…
Middleweight prospects Scott Smith and Ed Herman will try to further establish themselves in the competitive 185-pound weight class when they square off in a preliminary bout on June 16th’s UFC 72 card, which will be held at The Odyssey in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Best remembered for his all-out war with Pete Sell at The Ultimate Fighter 4 finale last November, Scott ‘Hands of Steel’ Smith will look to repeat that spectacular knockout victory when he steps into the Octagon on June 16th. To do so, he’ll have to come out throwing bombs with the abandon that has made him a fan favorite in the California area and which has allowed him to compile an impressive 13-3 MMA record.
A finalist from season three of The Ultimate Fighter whose performance in a razor-thin loss to Kendall Grove was so impressive it garnered him a UFC contract, Ed ‘Short Fuse’ Herman (14-4) will bring an aggressive style and a hunger for victory into Belfast as he tries to keep the momentum from his January submission win over Chris Price going against the hardest puncher he’s faced in the UFC thus far.
