PRIDE middleweight champion and Team Quest co-founder Dan Henderson is scheduled to appear on ESPN’s “Rome is Burning” later today for the first of a two-part interview to discuss his upcoming title unification bout this weekend against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 82: Pride of a Champion.
The show, which is hosted by long-time radio personality Jim Rome, will air at 4:30 PM ET on ESPN. Rome revealed that Henderson would be a guest on the show earlier today during his daily syndicated radio show. Henderson is also slated to appear again on Wednesday.
UFC 82, which will take place this Saturday night at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, will also include a heavyweight affair between Cheick Kongo and Heath Herring as well as the return of former champion Evan Tanner as he takes on Japanese sensation Yushin Okami.
Henderson, a former Olympic wrestler, is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 75 last September. It was the first time he had fought inside the confines of the UFC since 1998.
The bout against Silva will mark Henderson’s first at middleweight since he lost a decision in a rematch against Kazuo Misaki in August 2006.
Touch of gloves to MMA on Tap reader “Humpzilla” for the tip.
