
‘The Ultimate Fighter 2’ veteran Jorge Gurgel will make his return to the octagon at UFC 73 in July when he faces Jamie Varner.
Gurgel sports a professional mixed martial arts record of 10-2 and a UFC record of 1-1. The Cincinnati, Ohio native made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 5 when he fought Mark Hominick in a losing effort. Gurgel’s next UFC appearance came 3 months later when he fought fellow ‘TUF’ contestant Danny Abbadi. It took Gurgel three rounds but he was able to earn the unanimous decision victory.
Gurgel’s opponent, Jamie Varner, sports a professional record of 12-2 and a UFC record of 1-1. Varner’s UFC debut came at UFC 62: Liddell vs. Sobral when he loss to lightweight contender Hermes Franca. Varner made his return to the octagon at UFC 68: Uprising where fans saw him beat Jason Gilliam by rear naked choke.
