The Fight Network is reporting that lightweight contender Tyson Griffin will square off against tough Brazilian Gleison Tibau at UFC 81 on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Griffin (10-1) has been a spark plug since entering the UFC engaging in wars with Clay Guida, Thiago Tavares and Frankie Edgar. Griffin holds victories over the likes of Clay Guida, Thiago Tavares, Urijah Faber and Duane Ludwig. Griffin’s sole professional loss came to Frankie Edgar at UFC 67: All or Nothing.
Gleison Tibau (15-4) emerged onto the UFC scene in November 2006 at UFC 65: Bad Intentions when he stepped into the octagon with the always dangerous Nick Diaz. Tibau gassed early and fell victim to the hands of Diaz partway through the second stanza. Since losing his UFC debut, Tibau has gone 4-0 defeating Jason Dent, Antonio Fernandes, Jeff Cox and Terry Etim.
