World Victory Road has announced that Japanese professional wrestler and PRIDE veteran Kazuyuki Fujita will take on K-1 kickboxer Peter Graham at the promotion’s inaugural show titled “Sengoku” on March 5th at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
The event will feature a main event between former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett and former Olympian Hidehiko Yoshida. Former PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi and one-time K-1 kickboxing standout Duane “Bang” Ludwig will clash. Kazuo Misaki will also compete on the card.
Fujita has not fought since being submitted by fellow heavyweight Jeff Monson at PRIDE’s final event in April of last year. The fight was the first-ever “UFC vs PRIDE” fight to take place under the plan between Zuffa and Dream Stage Entertainment officials that never ended up coming to fruition.
Graham will be making his professional mixed martial arts debut in the fight. He is a former WKBF World Amateur Heavyweight Champion and holds a record of 54-11-1 in kickboxing. His professional boxing record stands at 6-3-1.
The Sydney, Australia native is mostly known for his patented somersault kick, which he calls “The Rolling Thunder”. Graham has landed the kick twice under the K-1 banner, most recently against rival Badr Hari during the K-1 World Grand Prix in 2006. Hari suffered a broken jaw and was sidelined for a year.
Touch of gloves to Nightmare of Battle for the assist.
