Fighting and Entertainment Group today announced the first-round pairings for DREAM’s inaugural featherweight grand prix, which starts at DREAM.7 on March 8 at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
Former WEC bantamweight Chase Beebe will meet Joe Warren, who will be making his professional debut in the tourney. Other WEC veterans competing include Hiroyuki Takaya going up against Jong-Won Kim and Hiroyuki Takaya taking on Micah Miller.
Additional first-round bouts include former Cage Rage featherweight champion Masakazu Imanari facing a tough test in Atsushi Yamamoto, popular Japanese prospect Akiyo “Wicky” Nishiura clashing with Abel Cullum and Bibiano Fernandes fighting Takafumi Otsuka.
A first-round bout between Hideo Tokoro and Daika Hata has been moved to DREAM.8 in April in order to allow Hata to heal from an injury suffering in his recent win over Shoji Maruyama on February 10. Pound-for-pound phenom Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto has received a bye to the second round while he prepares to return from a one-year hiatus due to knee surgery.
