Former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin will make a long-awaited return to action at UFC 101, which could take place on August 8 in Portland, Oregon. Colorful “Ultimate Fighter” alumnus Melvin Guillard will fight for the first time in over a year at UFC 101. His opponent will likely be Brazilian grappler Thiago Tavares, who is coming off a decision win over Manny Gamburyan at UFC 94. Both fighters have reportedly agreed to the fight and bout agreements are expected to be sent out shortly. [MMA Weekly]
Another matchup pitting together notable UFC veterans has reportedly been added to The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale on June 20 as longtime veteran Chris Lytle will likely face off against Kevin Burns. Lytle recently fell to Marcus Davis in a “Fight of the Night” effort at UFC 93 in January while Burns suffered a highlight-reel knockout loss to Anthony Johnson in his last outing. [MMA Weekly]
