Former PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko will make his Strikeforce debut this fall in a heavyweight showdown with EliteXC veteran Brett “The Grimm” Rogers. No date or venue has been announced but the fight is expected to occur during the fall.
Last month, Emelianenko was slated to fight PRIDE veteran Josh Barnett at Affiction: Trilogy before the promotion ceased operations and canceled the card.
Emelianenko, a native of Russia, possesses an impressive record of 30-1. Emelianenko holds victories over the likes of Semmy Schilt, Heath Herring, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mark Coleman, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, Tim Sylvia, and Andrei Arlovski.
Rogers, a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, possesses an unblemished record of 10-0. Rogers holds victories over Ralph Kelly, James Thompson, Jon Murphy and Ron Humphrey. Rogers was last in action at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields where he scored a TKO over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski.
