A pivotal welterweight bout between heavy-handed title contenders Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann has been tapped to headline The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale, which is slated for June 1 in Las Vegas and will air live on FX.
The UFC announced today that the bout will be a five-round affair. The winner will likely be the next in line to face the winner of Carlos Condit and Georges St. Pierre's expected showdown at the end of the year.
The show will also feature the lightweight finals of the ongoing "TUF 15" season as well as likely apperances from a handful of cast members.
Since losing a razor-close split decision to Carlos Condit in his UFC debut, Ellenberger has rattled off six consecutive wins to find himself one step away from a title shot. The Omaha, Nebraska native followed a violent KO of Jake Shields last fall with a hard-fought unanimous nod over Diego Sanchez in February.
Kampmann has bounced back from a two-fight losing streak to record two straight wins. After grinding out a decision over Rick Story in November, Kampmann notched a signature come-from-behind submission win over Thiago Alves in the final moments of their bout at UFC on FX 2 earlier this month.
