The Florida State Boxing Commission has released the official list of medical suspensions stemming from this past weekend’s EliteXC: Street Certified, which took place at the BankUnited Center in Miami, Florida.
The event was headlined by a main event between EliteXC heavyweight sensation and internet street fighting legend Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson and infamous former UFC brawler David “Tank” Abbott. Ferguson knocked out Abbott in the first round.
Because of the knockout, Abbott has been medically suspended for 60 days due to precautionary reasons. James Thompson, Kyle Noke, Edson Berto, and John Doyle, who were all also put to sleep, received similar suspensions.
Mario Rinaldi received a 60 day medical suspension as well but it was handed out due to the amount of trauma his head suffered in his loss to Dave Herman.
Herman and Jirka Hivati were not sidelined officially but both need to have existing injuries checked out by a physician before they will be permitted to return to action. Herman has a possible knee injury while Hivati suffered a facial laceration.
