EliteXC Oct 4, 2008 Results

Can’t really call it Kimbo-Shamrock if that didn’t happen, can we?  After some technical difficulties preventing live blogging, it’s time to post the results.

For those unaware: Ken Shamrock was not able to get doctor’s clearance for the fight.  Seth Petruzelli (TUF 2) took his place to fight Kimbo Slice.

Results:

Seth Petruzelli def. Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson - TKO (Strikes)
Jake Shields def. Paul Daley - Submission (Armbar)
Andrei Arlovski def. Roy Nelson - KO
Gina Carano def. Kelly Kobold - Unanimous Decision
Benji Radach def. Murilo “Ninja” Rua - TKO (Strikes)
Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos def. Yoko Takahashi - Unanimous Decision
Connor Heun def. Edson Berto - TKO (Strikes)
Mikey Gomez def. Lorenzo Borgomeo - Submission (Armbar)
Bryan Hamade def. David Gomez - Submission (Guillotine)
Nicolae Cury def. Jorge Bouchat - Submission (Reverse Triangle)

Yup, you read that right, Kimbo was TKO’d.  Not only that, but he was TKO’d in 14 seconds.  Shocker?  A little, but not completely, despite the popularity difference.

EliteXC announced a sellout, and ratings may have been good for the event, but with Kimbo dispatched so quickly, EliteXC’s possible success tonight will be overshadowed by their biggest draw falling so fast.

I thought this was an excellent televised card. Much better than their first one. I didn’t bother with the second card. The only real down point to the show was Kobold just sort of leaning on Carano the entire time. Watching another IFL champion take on Arlovski was interesting, though a little predictable.
Watching Slice get owned at the end was priceless. Capped off a great show that would have been great even without that. But hey, can’t complain when you get a good laugh right?

Well all the Kimbo haters got what they wanted, he was embarrassed in this one. Felled by a glancing jab and pummelled by a guy with pink hair and a tramp stamp. I know Kimbo isn’t the jailbird they say he is and I don’t know Seth’s preference’s, but it did look like the prison queer turned the tables on the beast.Carano is gonna be owned if she fights Cyborg, she isn’t ready for that fight. Arlovski looked like he tok his fight on short notice, he’s usually in better shape, but he did pretty well. It was a nice card but NOT better than the last one. There were two really good fights ahead of Kimbo last time and a big opening 1st round KO. Props to Kimbo also for showing class and remaining positive after the defeat. He’s becomen a humble, classy guy since he joined XC.

well well, Kimbo lost in punching contest, not even from a submission….  All i know is;  Somewhere Sean Gannon is laughing!

your right fightfan, Kimbo showed he can be humble, but classy?  He seemed more worried that people knew he was still having his after PARTY to me.  Also the fact he took the fight on short notice gives him an OUT in his/eliteXC eyes.  He also showed class in prefight interview, lmfao.

so what, about 1 more year(MAX) of this clown and we can wash our hands of his worthlessness!!!!  PERIOD!

Ken Shamrock made history again. Great Hall of famer has got injured during his warm-up sparing session, hours before the fight and had to be pulled out of the main event of the evening. He suffered cut above left eye and probably injured left eye. And then Seth Petruzelli accepted offer to step-up and replace Ken despite huge weight difference between him and Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, difference is 25-30 pounds (10-15kg). Also this was Petruzelli’s first fight after one year break.

Kimbo jumped on Seth in attempt to land one of his powerful punches, but Petruzelli used his karate skills and defended himself with front kick (mae-geri). And then he landed short right hook, that supprised and “rocked” Kimbo, followed up with barages of punches while Kimbo stumbled on the floor. Rest is history …

We all saw this day coming.

The guys at Elite XC kept putting Kimbo against people he could beat: injured and old guys. And after 44 year old Ken couldn’t fight, they tried to get Frank Shamrock to fight him. And finally they got someone with no handicap, but he was small and average. I’m surprised they didn’t ask Carano to be in the match.

Props to him for having a good attitude about it in the interview. I guess EXC will have to ride Tito Ortiz now.
