Elite Xtreme Combat has apparently signed Cage Fighting Championships middleweight champion Hector Lombard.
CFC announced the signing through their official website on Sunday.
“I am very excited for Hector as I believe he is destined to be our most successful export and I see him fighting for EliteXC title very soon,” CFC Director Luke Pezzutti said in a press release. “I am also excited that EliteXC have agreed to work with CFC to give our other fighters international opponents and possible opportunities to fight overseas.”
Lombard, a two-time veteran of the now-defunct PRIDE Fighting Championships, has not lost since dropping a unanimous decision to Gegard Mousasi at PRIDE Bushido 13 in November 2006. The Cuban last stopped Tristan Yunker with strikes at a Cage Fighting Championships event in February, successfully defending his CFC belt.
Lombard was slated to take on Karo Parisyan in November after being believed to have signed a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. However Lombard was unable to gain entry into the United States after two failed attempts to earn a visa and his deal was likely terminated.
