A lightweight bout between former EliteXC title challenger Yves Edwards and fast-rising Brazilian prospect Fabricio Camoes could take place at EliteXC’s scheduled November 8 show on Showtime according to MMA Junkie.
Edwards revealed the possibility of the bout during a recent interview. Edwards stated that although the bout has not yet been officially signed, he expects that things will be finalized in the coming days after agreeing to the matchup.
“I’ve agreed on it verbally, and I’m just waiting on the papers, and I should get those after this next weekend,” Edwards said in the article. ‘I’m looking forward to that one, and looking forward to getting back on track.”
Edwards received a title shot against former EliteXC lightweight champion K.J. Noons at the promotion’s “Return of the King” event in June after winning three straight fights. However Noons stopped Edwards with strikes just 0:48 seconds into the bout.
Camoes meanwhile remains undefeated since returning to active competition earlier this year. After dispatching of former King of the Cage lightweight champion Joe Camacho in April, Camoes followed up with a quick submission of “Ultimate Fighter” veteran Sam Morgan at a ShoXC event on August 15.
