Marvin Eastman will attempt to extend his second stint with the Ultimate Fighting Championship when he takes on Drew McFedries at the The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale on June 21st.
Eastman announced the fight via a recent MySpace blog post.
“The next victim of “The Beastman” is on June 21st at the Palms Casino on the finale of “The Ultimate Fighter”, Eastman said in the post. “Drew McFedries is my last fighter under contract with the UFC. This contract was a buyout from the purchase of the WFA by the UFC.”
After being knocked out by Travis Lutter at UFC 50, Eastman was released from the UFC and went on to post a 7-2-1 record outside of the organization before being invited back. Eastman dropped his return fight against current light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson but rebounded at UFC 81 in February, winning a unanimous decision over Terry Martin.
McFedries is coming off of a loss to rising middleweight contender Patrick Cote at UFC Fight Night 12 in January. It was McFedries’ first fight since June 2007 due to surgery undergone to repair damage suffered from a severe staph infection.
Diego Sanchez is expected to take on American Top Team’s Luigi Fioravanti in a bout that will serve as the show’s main event. A middleweight matchup between Evan Tanner and Kendall Grove will also take place at the event.
