Cyrille Diabate has been forced to pull out of his scheduled IFO light heavyweight title bout against Travis Wiuff at IFO-Steele Cage: Fireworks in the Cage IV after suffering a broken ankle during a training session this past Monday.
The news comes from a report by MMA Weekly:
“I broke my ankle training Monday evening. This is the first time I’ve had to pull out of a fight and it’s so frustrating; it drives me crazy,” explained Diabate. “I was doing some light sparring with takedown defense and one of my sparring partners did a takedown trapping one of my legs at the same time. It was completely a fluke accident. I was in perfect condition, my training was great and it’s one of those things that happen.”
Diabate is expected to be out of action for 2-3 weeks. A replacement opponent for Wiuff has not yet been found.
