Cro Cop Receives New Offer from UFC; Bout With Dos Santos Possible

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic

Last week, Fighters Only Magazine broke news that UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta had flown to Zagred, Croatia to meet with Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic

The two talked business and Cro Cop was left with “an offer he cannot refuse.” This comes on the heels of Cro Cop announcing he was leaving the UFC to sign a three-fight contract with DREAM in Japan. This left many people feeling uneasy, including Dana White, as the UFC provided Cro Cop with a special one-fight deal for UFC 99 with the hopes that he’d return to pursue the heavyweight title.

MMAWeekly.com is now reporting that Cro Cop has pulled out of his bout with Siala “Mighty Mo” Siliga at DREAM 10 on July 20.

Cro Cop’s next UFC appearance is expected to come against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 103 on September 19 in Dallas, Texas.

Since leaving the UFC in 2007, Cro Cop has secured stoppage victories over Tatsuya Mizuno, Hong Man Choi, and Mustapha al Turk. During that time he also fought Alistair Overeem in a bout that many people felt he was losing before it was called a no contest due to a low blow.

Dos Santos, a native of Salvador, Brazil, possesses a mixed martial arts record of 8-1-0. Dos Santos holds UFC victories over Fabricio Werdum and Stefan Struve.
