Cro Cop Receives Indefinite Medical Suspensions Following UFC 103 Loss

PRIDE Fighting Championships standout Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic has been medically suspended for an indefinite amount of time by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation following his third-round submission loss to Junior Dos Santos at UFC 103 over the weekend.

The suspension likely stems from a potential eye injury Cro Cop suffered from a Dos Santos punch, which ultimately forced the Croatian to verbally quit during the fight. All of the event’s 26 licensed fighters received mandatory suspensions as well.

In terms of Cro Cop’s future, it remains uncertain. Filipovic reportedly told Croatian newspaper “Jutarnji” that he may be considering hanging up the gloves based on his performance against Dos Santos on Saturday evening.

“Maybe the ones who have said that I’m done are right,” Filipovic said. “Obviously, I can’t break my mental block in the Octagon. I have twenty years of training like a spartan behind me. It has caught up with me, my body is broken down. I’ve been worn out. I’ve been living a military life for 20 years now. Getting up at 6:00 AM and working hard physically until 8:00 PM. I want a normal life. I’m entering a cage and thinking about fishing in Privlaka. You can’t win that way.”
