Couture’s Big Announcement

Be sure to tune into ‘Inside the UFC’ on Thursday night as Randy “The Natural” Couture will be interviewed and he has a big announcement to make.

To the loyal readers, feel free to leave comments on what you think the announcement might be. Personally, I have a feeling “The Natural” will be coming out of retirement to fight Tim Sylvia for the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 68 in Ohio.

It’s crazy what a great athlete Randy is, what is he like 43 now?

Yes sir. Looks like I was right about Sylvia-Couture. MMAWeekly was reporting it on their radio show tonight.

What weight do you think Couture would move to? Shit, if he takes the title, he would most likely fight Cro Cop.

I remember reading that Couture was at like 230 lbs or something in that area.

What a slap in the face to every other heavyweight that could have got a shot.

I guess UFC 68 needed a little horse and pony show.

And Chuck Liddell fighter of the year? Give me a break. How did Fedor not win this? He’s done everything Chucks done, just against tougher opponents, in Heavyweight.  Light Heavyweight division in the UFC is pathetic, who the hell has Chuck fought? Sobral? an aging Couture twice? Tito? Pff..  Not exactly what I’d call fighter of the year material.

This is akin to calling Britney Spears person of the year, just because everyone talks about her. I can’t wait for Rampage to stomp Liddell’s ass so I can stop hearing about him and Xyiences lame campaign, much the way Silva stopped Franklin and his pretty boy reign.

Look how much $$$ Liddell has brought in.  That should answer your question.  Everything is driven by money.

I see a distant, if any, comparison between Tim Sylvia and Mirko Filipovic. I could actually see a fit Couture taking out a cocky Sylvia, but Cro Cop? I think you’re right, he’s just too powerful.

I’m split on this decision… Couture has the tools needed to beat a guy like Sylvia but then again, Sylvia is huge and he has powerful strikes. It should be interesting but I just feel this is a bad fight for Couture and if he wins then what? He fights “Cro Cop” who will destroy him.

I honestly don’t get it, if Couture is coming out of retirement to fight for the title what happens if he wins? How long will he stick around to fight?

I still think it’s fucked up that Couture gets to burst in front of the HW devision, namely Arlovski. Of course, this is assuming that IS his “big announcement”.

Very true, personally if Couture is in fact making a return in the HW division I think it’s a bad career choice.

As you said he gets to jump past contenders like Heath Herring, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Andrei Arlovski. I don’t really see any good fights for Couture in the divison. When I say good fights I mean guys he will have an easy time with. I feel he’ll receive a beating from guys like Sylvia, Arlovski, Herring, and Cro Cop.

With that being said, Couture is a true champion and he has the heart and tools needed to pull something like this off.

Randy is an awesome fighter, but should leave it at that. He is much to old to hold a belt for any length of time. Maybe Randy should look into finding some young bucks to train, that way he can finish living his dreams through them.
