UFC veteran Rich Clementi will replace an injured L.C. Davis on the fight card for Titan Fighting Championship 16, which will air live on HDNet on January 28 from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS.
The organization announced the change this morning. Clementi will be facing local product Aaron Derrow in a welterweight bout. Derrow had previously been scheduled to take on Alonzo Martinez in a lightweight contest.
TFC officials hope to reschedule Davis’ proposed fight against Jared Downing for the promotion’s next show on March 25.
“I was heartbroken to hear about L.C.‘s injury because I know how much it meant to him to be able to come back to Kansas City and compete in front of his friends and family,” Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly said in a press release. “However, we really feel good about being able to secure a fighter the stature of Rich Clementi on such short notice.”
Clementi is a winner of three of his last four bouts. He last submitted Felipe Enomoto with an armbar at a Cage Wars event in Northern Ireland in December. His opponent, Derrow, is riding a four-fight win streak.
TFC 16 will be headlined by a heavyweight battle between former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia and “TUF” alumnus Abe Wagner. Notable fighters such as Drew McFedries, Jason High and Rudy Bears are slated for action as well.
