News and Notes

- UFC veteran Jonathan “The Road Warrior” Goulet was victories this past weekend at KOTC Canada: Supremacy.

- According to reports Spike TV is on the verge of signing a multiyear, multimillion-dollar renewal of its Ultimate Fighting Championship distribution deal. The new deal is reported to be in excess of $100 million.

- This past weekend UFC veteran Renato “Babalu” Sobral was arrested and released on charges of battery and trespassing in Tampa.

- Yesterday, The Fight Network, provided a little insight as to why James Bailey vs. Joe Mac was called off at Cage Rage 22.

Though he and opponent Jeremy Bailey weighed-in for their Cage Rage 22 welterweight bout Friday, Joe Mac didn’t make it to the cage Saturday night. Mac was assaulted that morning walking his dog after two men approached him and an argument and physical altercation ensued. The heavily tattooed and mohawked fighter was knifed under his eye before the pair retreated. Mac is reported to be on the mend.

- Sherdog is reporting that Pro Elite is negotiating to purchase Icon Sport and King of the Cage.
