That’s right folks! Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell will be refining his foot work on the upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” The series premieres on Monday, September 21 at 8 PM.
“I want to win,” Liddell told UFC.com, “I don’t like losing in anything, so I’ll work as hard as they’ll let me.”
Liddell joins a cast which includes Aaron Carter, Natalie Coughlin, Mark Dacascos, Tom DeLay, Macy Gray, Ashley Hamilton, Melissa Joan Hart, Kathy Ireland, Michael Irvin, Joanna Krupa, Debi Mazar, Mya, Kelly Osbourne, Donny Osmond, and Louis Vito.
“There’s a month up to when the show starts when I’m practicing, and I’ve been trying to get in a little bit of shape before I meet my partner,” said Liddell. “I don’t know who else is gonna be on there, so I don’t know how much of an edge that gives me or how that’s gonna translate, but I haven’t tried it yet so we’ll see. When I talked to them after I agreed to do it, they said if you don’t have any background in dancing, just learn it when you get here. Don’t confuse yourself by starting with somebody and then having to come over and re-learn it.”
Liddell, a native of San Luis Obispo, possesses a mixed martial arts record of 21-7. Liddell holds victories over the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Tito Ortiz, Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Alistair Overeem, Vitor Belfort, Guy Metzger, Kevin Randleman, and Jose Landi-Jons.
Liddell was last in action at UFC 97: Redemption where he was TKO’d by former PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix winner Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Following the loss, Dana White stated that he wanted Liddell to hang up his gloves.
