The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that former WEC light heavyweight champions Brian Stann and Steve Cantwell will settle the score at UFC Fight Night 19 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
While fighting in the WEC ranks, Cantwell and Stann met twice with both fighters walking away with TKO victories. When the WEC light heavyweight division was eliminated, Cantwell and Stann were regarded as the two prime assets joining the UFC.
Since joining the UFC, Stann has fought once losing to IFL veteran Krzysztof “The Polish Experiment” Soszynski. Stann is a former US Marine who currently trains at Greg Jacksons in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Cantwell made his UFC debut at UFC Fight for the Troops and impressed many as he secured a devastating armbar against fellow UFC newcomer Razak Al-Hassan. Cantwell’s latest octagon appearance came at UFC 97 where he dropped an unanimous decision to Luis Arthur Cane.
Also announced was a middleweight bout slating Nate Quarry against Tim Credeur and a welterweight bout featuring Chris Wilson against Mike Pyle.
