A lightweight bout between former EliteXC grappler Fabricio “Morango” Camoes and King of the Cage veteran Georgi Karakhanyan has reportedly been signed for Strikeforce’s first-ever “ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers” event on May 15 in Fresno, California.
The news comes from a report by Tatame.com, which recently confirmed the matchup with Camoes himself. He last competed at a ShoXC event last August where he submitted “Ultimate Fighter” alumnus Sam Morgan in the first round.
Karakhanyan is currently riding a seven-fight winning streak. His last two wins came at a one-night tournament put on by Missouri Total Fighting, where he scored first-round submissions of both Justin Salazar and James Pettus.
The debut edition of “Sho MMA” will be headlined by a lightweight bout between undefeated prospect Billy Evangelista and Hawaiian veteran Mike Aina. Kim Couture, the wife of former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Randy Couture, will take on Miesha Tate in a featured female bout as well.
