Despite only defeating Jason "Mayhem" Miller in a three-round battle less than a week ago, Michael Bisping already has his next fight lined up and it provides a quick turnaround.
The Brit will face decorated grappler and former middleweight title challenger Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 2 on January 28 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The UFC officially announced the matchup on Tuesday.
The UFC's second foray into network television will also be co-headlined by two other pivotal bouts. Former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will battle top prospect Phil Davis in the night's main event and the ever-charismatic Chael Sonnen takes on fast-rising wrestler Mark Munoz.
Bisping's victory over "Mayhem" was his fourth straight and pushes him ever closer to a much-sought after middleweight title shot. The "TUF" season three winner has also defeated Yoshihiro Akiyama, Dan Miller and Jorge Rivera during his current run.
Maia has won three out of his last four since falling to middleweight king Anderson Silva, most recently grinding out a unanimous decision over fellow Brazilian Jorge Santiago at UFC 136 on October 8.
