The Bellator Fighting Championships’ is expected to announced the signing of former UFC lightweight contender Roger Huerta. Huerta will compete in Bellator’s season two eight-man lightweight tournament.
Huerta, a native of Austin, Texas, possesses a mixed martial arts record of 20-3-1. Huerta holds victories over the likes of Clay Guida, Leonard Garcia, Doug Evans, and Alberto Crane.
In January 09, Huerta took a break from MMA to pursue some opportunities in acting. In order to fulfil his UFC contract, Huerta returned to the cage in September and dropped a decision to lightweight contender Gray Maynard. According to the report, Huerta received his formal release from the UFC this past week.
The eight-man lightweight tournament starts April 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Combatants currently confirmed for the April 8 show are Carey Vanier, Ferrid Kheder, Mike Ricci, Janne Tulirinta, Chad Hinton, and Toby Imada.
