A much-anticipated showdown between longtime English mixed martial arts veterans Danny Batten and Leigh Remedios has been scrapped after Batten suffered an undisclosed injury during a recent training session.
The news comes from MMA Weekly, who although were unable to grab any specifics in terms of Batten’s injury, were able to confirm with the lightweight that the injury was bad enough that he would be unable to fight without suffering serious consequences health-wise.
“It’s really frustrating to be out of the fight and there is nothing I can do about it medically,” Batten said in the report. “The thing is everything was going so well and for the first time in my career, I managed to train solidly for two months without the distractions of holding down my day job as a postman…to cancel now has been really hard for me.”
This is now the second instance in the past week in which Cage Rage officials have been forced to quickly find a replacement opponent for one of their fighters only a week away from Cage Rage 25, which will take place this Saturday, March 8th. Henrique Santana was tapped to replace Che’ Mills against Michael Johnson.
A replacement opponent for Remedios has not yet been found.
