DREAM officials have announced that DREAM lightweight champion Joachim Hansen will defend his title against Shinya Aoki at DREAM.11 on Oct. 6 at the Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa, Japan.
Aoki and Hansen first met at PRIDE: Shockwave 2006 and Aoki stunned the Japanese faithful as he submitted Hansen with a spectacular gogoplata. Hansen evened up the series at the DREAM.5 Lightweight Grand Prix last year when he scored a TKO early in the first stanza.
Since their last bout, Aoki has gone 4-1 securing victories over Todd Moore, Eddie Alvarez, David Gardner, and Vitor Riberio with his sole loss coming to Hayato Sakurai. Hansen on the other hand has yet to grace the ring since winning the DREAM 5 Lightweight Grand Prix.
DREAM.11 is also expected to feature the semifinals and finals of DREAM’s “Super Hulk” Open Weight and Featherweight Grand Prix. Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will clash in a true grudge match for the DREAM middleweight title.
