The injury bug as continued to riddle UFC 98 of some of its biggest draws. Just days after Yushin Okami and James Irvin were replaced by Chael Sonnen and Xavier Foupa-Pokam in their respective bouts, fan favorite Houston Alexander has been forced out of his light heavyweight matchup against Andre Gusmao as well.
From the UFC’s new Twitter account:
Houston Alexander broke his hand. A new light heavyweight opponent for Andre Gusmao at UFC 98 to be announced quickly.
Not included with the aforementioned fighters was Josh Koscheck, who withdrew from a welterweight bout against Chris Wilson after suffering a foot injury during training. The event seems cursed in a way. Credit goes to the UFC though for replacing the injured participants with quality names that will still be able to draw interest.
