Bellator Fighting Championships closed-out its groundbreaking premiere tournament season by crowning two new world champions, however, the one of the biggest highlights of night came from a special feature bout.
This 19-year-old striker, Stefanie Guimaraes, was able to dismantle her opponent with a devastating knee just 0:49 seconds into the first round. Guimaraes faced the 44-year-old Kung Fu fighter Yvonne Reis in the 145lb matchup. The Guimaraes knockout bared a striking resemblance to the unforgettable highflying knee delivered by TTS competitor Nick Pace at Bellator XI the week before. Guimaraes , now 1-1, started the round by exchanging a flurry of back and forth strikes against her opponent just before landing the decisive hit moments later.
Guimaraes tactfully tied up the head of Reis and delivered a powerful knee with such force that Reis dropped instantly to the mat where she then lay unconscious. The quick win helped Guimaraes pick up her first professional win while dropping Reis to 0-2 professionally.
