Last night in Gatineau, Quebec, UFC vet Luigi Fioravanti and Stephan Potvin locked horns in APEX: Evolution. Luigi Fioravanti was able to earn a unanimous decision victory in a fight in which he took on very short notice.

TUF Stars Set to do Battle

‘The Ultimate Fighter’ stars, Stephan Bonnar and Rashad Evans are set to do battle in the octagon June 28th at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

Expect a good fight as both guys will be looking to redeem themselves after shaky performances in which each fighter was able to earn a questionable decision victory.

No Joe Rogan for UFC 61

UFC color-commentator Joe Rogan will not be part of the broadcast team for UFC 61: “Bitter Rivals” due to a prior commitment to The Comedy Connection in Boston, which he was unable to cancel. Rogan stated that he would be at both of the Spike TV cards in June and hopefully the rest of the pay per views after that.

Randy Couture who is now a permanent fixture on the UFC broadcast team will be filling in for Joe Rogan.

Strikeforce: Revenge Results

Last night at Strikeforce: Revenge, the 10,374 fans were blessed with some highs and lows. The highly anticipated rematch between “The Phenom” and “The Demolition Man” turned out to be a very lackluster fight which had fans leaving their seats and heading towards the exits. Tyson Griffin was able keep his undefeated record intact by beating the very tough striker Duane Ludwig. Fans also witnessed a freak accident as James Irvin and Bobby Southworth clinched at the beginning of their fight, Southworth drove Irvin towards the cage door and as they hit it, the door flew open sending both fighters out of the cage. The fight was ruled a no contest as Irvin was injured and unable to continue.

Update on “The Rock”

For the first time in months, Nathan Quarry has finally surfaced to give MMA fans an update on his recent activities. It appears Quarry could be out for the remainder of the year if not longer due to his impending back surgery.

Strikeforce Weigh-Ins Conclude

On the eve of Strikeforce: Revenge, fighters arrived at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California to hit the scales. All of the fighters were able to make weight and it was announced that both Belfort and Overeem’s camps agreed to have the fight at a catch weight limit of 210 pounds.

Wes Sims to Fight on WEC Benefit Show

Today the WEC announced that Wes “The Project” Sims has volunteered his services to fight on the WEC Benefit Show. The WEC stated that all fighters will receive one hundred dollars with their travel and accommodations being cover. Sims has waived the one hundred dollars and decided to compete free of charge.

Pride Comments on Situation with Fuji TV

For the first time since Fuji TV cancelled Pride earlier this week, DSE President Nobuyuki Sakakibara spoke with the press and commented on how Fuji TV representatives went about informing Pride officials on the cancellation.

Fuji TV also announced that any fighters or people associated with Pride cannot appear on any Fuji TV program.

WEC to Host Benefit Show in Ryan Bennett’s Honor

Last week the MMA community suffered a great lost when Ryan Bennett was involved in a tragic car accident that claimed his life and injured his wife and four kids. The WEC has decided to host a benefit show in Ryan Bennett’s honor with all proceeds being donated to Ryan’s wife Tonya.
