Former “Ultimate Fighter” cast member Mike Whitehead talks his XFA debut this weekend, the fighter payscale, Randy-Fedor, the new mystery promotion involving Affliction clothing, and even teaches host Dave Farra some striking techniques in the latest video from RawVegas.
Smith Replaces Frye in YAMMA Main Event
Don Frye has reportedly pulled out of his scheduled main event bout against Oleg Taktarov at YAMMA Pit Fighting’s debut show on April 11th in Atlantic City.
The news comes from Sherdog.com and an official reason as to why Frye pulled out of the fight remains unknown.
Frye will be replaced by another longtime veteran in the form of Patrick Smith, who competed at the first two Ultimate Fighting Championship events. Since returning to active competition in 2006, Smith has been victorious in four out of his five fights.
Palace Fighting Championship 7 Weigh-In Results
The only hitch at yesterday’s weigh-ins for Palace Fighting Championship’s latest event tonight at Lemoore, California’s Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino didn’t involving a fighter failing to make weight.

Hightower will be replaced by Gladiator Challenge veteran Joel “Bulldog” Crawford according to Sherdog.com. Crawford has failed to earn his first career victory in four attempts thus far.

Report: Saunders Targeted for UFC 86 Return
“The Ultimate Fighter 6” cast member Ben Saunders will likely return to action at UFC 86 in July according to our friends from MMA Junkie.
After being bounced out of the popular reality show’s tournament by eventual runner-up Tommy Speer in the quarterfinals, Saunders bounced back and kept his undefeated professional streak alive in earning an unanimous decision over Dan Barrera at The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale in December.

In addition to our announcement that the UFC had parted ways with Dorian Price, it seems that Dana White and company have also released an additional six more competitors who participated on the sixth season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’.
ProElite’s Sam Caplan is reporting that the UFC has most likely come to terms on the release of Blake Bowman, Dan Barrera, Paul Georgieff, Richie Hightower, John Kolosci, and Billy Miles.
So why were they all released?
Well all of them came out on the losing end of things at The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale last month. This was also the first season of the show where with the exception of Mac Danzig, all of the fighters were unknown and relatively inexperienced. Couple that with the fact that they all fight at 170 lbs and it’s pretty obvious that they wouldn’t survive in the UFC’s toughest division just yet.
This doesn’t mean that they won’t be back fighting in the Octagon in the near future though. The UFC is notorious for bringing back fighters that were once a part of the organization and go out and win multiple fights after their release.
Above is the latest from The Garv who discusses the newly signed Kimbo Slice-Tank Abbott fight and how dangerous Miami is. I’m guessing that Will Smith is full of crap.
UFC Announces Nakamura-Emerson
The UFC has announced that a lightweight bout between Keita Nakamura and former Ultimate Fighter cast member Rob Emerson for UFC 81: Breaking Point next month.
Nakamura has not fought since losing a unanimous decision to Drew Fickett at UFC Fight Night 9 in April of last year. Nakamura also dropped a decision in his UFC debut against Brock Larson at UFC Fight Night 7.
Fresh off of his second stint in jail, Emerson will be making his first appearance inside the Octagon since his infamous fight against Gray Maynard at The Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale where he tapped out due to a rib injury and Maynard knocked himself out slamming Emerson to the ground.
While bout agreements have not yet been signed, both Cheick Kongo and Heath Herring are expected to face off in a heavyweight bout at UFC 82 in March according to a report from MMA Mania.
Juanito Ibarra, one of Kongo’s trainers, has stated that his client is already training in preparation for the bout:
“Kongo’s here at my house already getting ready for the fight,” said Ibarra. “This is going to be his year. Kongo’s got all the talent to be a heavyweight champion real soon, I truly believe that. Heath’s a tough opponent and this is going to be a big test.”
UFC Releases Radev and Hightower
No, there hasn’t been an official announcement by Dana White and company. Instead the news comes inadvertently from Ken Pavia’s journal about his dieting adventure with Luke Cummo via MMA Junkie:
The day needed a pick-me-up so I called UFC matchmaker Joe Silva to check the progress of my guys’ fights. He said he was still working on it but then informed me they would be releasing two of them, Jordan Radev and Richie Hightower.
Apparently Radev has already been booked to fight Hector Lombard at Cage Fighting Championship’s third event on February 15th in Sydney, Australia.
