Fresh off signing a new multi-fight contract with the UFC, light heavyweight prospect Jon “Bones” Jones will lock horns with Matt Hamill at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale which is currently slated for December 5 at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Also expected to appear on The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale is a middleweight attraction featuring Alessio Sakara and Rouimar Palhares.

Quick Hits: Jones Signs New UFC Deal, Mayorga to MMA & More

— Light heavyweight prospect Jon Jones has reportedly inked a new four-fight deal with the UFC. Jones has won all nine of his professional fights to date, including three inside the Octagon. “Bones” was last seen in action at UFC 100, where he submitted fellow wrestler Jake O’Brien with a guillotine choke in the second round. — Former boxing welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga will apparently be entering the world of mixed martial arts. Shine Fighters promoter and “TUF” alumnus Dorian Price announced Mayorga’s participation at a future event against an opponent yet-to-be-determined. Quick Hits: Struve Tapped to Face Gormley, Weekend Preview & More

— Towering heavyweight prospect Stefan Struve has reportedly been tapped to face undefeated All-American collegiate wrestler Chase Gormley at UFC 104, which takes place on October 24 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.. Bout agreements have apparently been signed. Gormley was originally slated to face Ben Rothwell at the event but Rothwell was recently moved into a main card matchup against Cain Velasquez. — A number of notable MMA veterans are in action this weekend. Art of Fighting’s latest offering in Tampa, Florida includes Seth Petruzelli, competing for the first time since his 14-second win over Kimbo Slice, going up against Chris Baten. Marcio Cruz and Delson Heleno will be on the AOF card as well. Neil Grove and Brad Pickett will also be defending their respective Ultimate Challenge UK titles in London, England while Dokonjonosuke Mishima, Masakazu Imanari, and Ryo Chonan are in action at DEEP 43 in Japan. Quick Hits: Belfort Reportedly Added to Bitetti Combat Card, Monson Pleads Guilty & More

— Former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort has reportedly been added to a star-studded card being put on by Bitetti Combat on September 12 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Belfort is said to be facing Europe Top Team’s Moise Rimbon, despite repeated rumors that he is all but set to be joining the UFC following last week’s demise of Affliction Entertainment. — One-time UFC heavyweight title challenger Jeff Monson pleaded guilty to malicious mischief in Washington court today after being caught spray-painting an anarchist symbol on the Washington state Capitol in an ESPN the Magazine photo earlier this year. Monson faces a potential 90-day jail sentence, a $21,894 fine, and the loss of his passport, which will now prevent from traveling overseas to fight in the near future. [Cagewriter]

The official weigh-in results for UFC 100: Making History are in and all of the fighters successfully made weight in preparation for their bouts Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The card will be headlined by a UFC heavyweight title bout featuring champion Brock Lesnar taking on interim champion Frank Mir. UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre will defend his title against Thaigo Alves as well.

Quick Hits: Fitch-Thiago, Jones-O’Brien Possible for UFC 100

Here are your news and notes for the morning of March 14, 2009.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Jon Fitch may be continuing his trek back up to the divisional ladder at UFC 100. He is reportedly in talks to face Brazilian upstart Paulo Thiago at the event. Thiago shocked many when he scored a first-round knockout of Josh Koscheck at UFC 95 in February. Fitch rebounded from a failed title shot against Georges St. Pierre to defeat Akihiro Gono at UFC 94. [Tatame.com]

Rising light heavyweight sensation Jon Jones will reportedly take on former UFC heavyweight contender Jake O’Brien at UFC 100 as well. Jones has been impressive in his two UFC bouts thus far, winning unanimous decisions over Andre Gusmao and Stephan Bonnar. O’Brien won a decision over Christian Wellisch in his last fight. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker recently revealed a rough outline of the schedule his promotion hopes to maintain in 2009. Sandwiched in between Strikeforce’s already announced April and May events, the organization in conjunction with Showtime will put on its inaugural “First Strike” event, which will be similar to the ShoXC events held over the last couple of years by ProElite. The first of those events would take place on May 8 and then again in June, September, October, and November. Regular Strikeforce cards will also be held in August, October, and December. A welterweight bout between England native John Hathaway and UFC newcomer Rick Story has reportedly been added to UFC 99, which will take place on June 13 in Cologne, Germany. The fight will likely take place on the event’s non-televised undercard. Both fighters are said to have agreed to the fight and the paperwork that would make it official is expected to be finalized shortly. [Five Ounces of Pain]

St. Pierre Dominates Penn at UFC 94

Georges St. Pierre used superior wrestling and surprising grappling technique to dominate UFC lightweight king B.J. Penn and successfully defend his UFC welterweight belt in the main event of UFC 94 Saturday night in Las Vegas.

What was supposed to be a showdown as even as their original meeting almost three years ago, turned into a one-sided mauling as St. Pierre (18-2) controlled Penn (13-5-1) in every aspect of the fight from start to finish. Penn, renowned for his takedown defense and new-found conditioning, found himself constantly on his back and winded after only the first round.

After three consecutive rounds of dominant wrestling and grappling by St. Pierre, the tide began to really turn in the fourth stanza, when St. Pierre turned up the heat - passing Penn’s guard at will and delivering a non-stop barrage of punishment. When Penn returned to his corner after the continuation of the round, both his trainers and the ringside doctor agreed that the fight should be stopped, and it was.

Previewing UFC 87: Seek and Destroy

Just two weekends after Anderson Silva destroyed James Irvin on cable television, the Ultimate Fighting Championship returns with it’s latest offering: UFC 87: Seek and Destroy, which is headlined by Georges St. Pierre defending his UFC welterweight title against gritty top contender Jon Fitch, who will be challenging Royce Gracie’s age-old record for consecutive wins.

The UFC didn’t come alone on it’s first trip to the state of Minnesota - hometown products Roger Huerta and Brock Lesnar have come to participate in the biggest fights of their respective careers. Huerta will challenge Kenny Florian for the assumed right to take on UFC lightweight champ B.J. Penn while Lesnar will look to bounce back from an embarrassing first defeat against experienced veteran Heath Herring.

Here’s a little breakdown of what you can expect and what you should watch for during tonight’s event. The televised main card will air on pay-per-view and Yahoo! Sports starting at 10 PM ET.
