The International Fight League has announced changes to a pair of lightweight fights that will take place when the promotion travels to East Rutherford, New Jersey for their next event on April 4th.

The organization announced the news today on their official website.

Longtime veteran Jason Black will step in for Rory Markham against welterweight Emyr Bussade. Black’s addition to the card likely unofficially confirms his release from the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where Black has lost his last two fights.

Jim Miller will replace an injured Deividas Taurosevicius and take on Bart Palaszewski in a lightweight bout.

Miller, who has fought primarily on the East Coast and recently submitted UFC veteran Chris Ligouri earlier this month at a Ring of Combat show, was reported as being tapped as a replacement opponent against Marcus Aurelio at next week’s UFC Fight Night 13. However Miller’s contract with the IFL left him unable to fill in at the event.

Three title fights are scheduled to headline the event. IFL light heavyweight champion Vladimir Matyushenko will make his first title defense against New Jersey native Jamal Patterson.

Popular welterweight champion and Xtreme Couture product Jay Hieron will attempt to keep his belt around his waist when he goes up against former U.S. Marine Mark Miller.

Update 8:00 PM: The UFC has confirmed the fight on their official website.

Victory Fighting Championship veteran Ryan Roberts has become the latest potential fighter to fill in for an injured Spencer Fisher against former PRIDE lightweight standout Marcus Aurelio at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2nd.

The news comes from our friends at MMA Junkie, who have learned from sources close to Roberts that he may have accepted the bout.

Fisher, a Miletich Fighting Systems product, was forced to pull out of his match against Aurelio after suffering a shoulder injury during a recent training session.

Jim Miller, who has fought primarily on the East Coast and recently submitted UFC veteran Chris Ligouri earlier this month at a Ring of Combat show, was reported as being tapped as a replacement opponent. However Miller appears to be under contract with the IFL, leaving him unable to fill in at the event.

Roberts was recently victorious in a four-man, one-night lightweight tournament at VFC 22: Ascension, defeating Zach Wolff and Joe Doherty in consecutive fights.

In any event, Aurelio’s bout is slated to be one of six preliminary fights in an event that features a main event between Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon. The three-hour telecast will precede the season premiere of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs Team Forrest.

Miletich Fighting Systems product Spencer Fisher has been forced to pull out of his upcoming bout against Marcus Aurelio at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2nd after suffering a shoulder injury during a recent training session.

The news comes from a Sherdog.com report.

“Spencer is the kind of fighter who has fought plenty of fights with injuries and Marcus Aurelio is not the kind of fighter you want to fight at 80 percent,” Fisher’s manager Monte Cox said in the report. “He was willing to fight but we decided it just was not a smart decision.”

MMA Weekly is reporting that Aurelio will now face fellow lightweight Jim Miller, who has fought primarily on the East Coast and recently submitted UFC veteran Chris Ligouri earlier this month at a Ring of Combat show.

The win was Miller’s second in as many fights against Ligouri.

The bout is slated to be one of six preliminary fights in an event that features a main event between Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon. The three-hour telecast will precede the season premiere of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs Team Forrest.

Update 6:05 PM: Five Ounces of Pain has learned that a fight between Miller and Aurelio might not even be possible. Why? He appears to be under contract with the IFL.
