The UFC returns for its third event in consecutive weeks and it's a big one - the promotion's annual Super Bowl weekend event in Las Vegas.

This year's edition features a "superfight" of sorts as UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will defend his title, welcoming former UFC lightweight king Frankie Edgar to the division. Alistair Overeem will also return to action for the first time after a year-long layoff. He will face fellow Strikeforce import Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva for a shot at Cain Velasquez and the UFC heavyweight belt.

A lightweight bout between outspoken wrestler Jacob Volkmann and submission artist Paul Sass has been booked for UFC 146 on May 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Volkmann has won five straight UFC fights, his most recent a unanimous decision over Efrain Escudero in December. Sass last submitted Michael Johnson with a heel hook at UFC on Versus 6 in October. He has won eight of his twelve pro fights by triangle choke. [UFC.com]

Just a handful of days before UFC 144, the organization has struck a deal with TV Tokyo to air a compressed, tape-delay version of the event on network television in Japan. TV Tokyo is reportedly avaiable in 32 million households. The last UFC event to air on the channel was UFC Fight Night 21 in March 2010, which saw Takanori Gomi fall to Kenny Florian. [Sherdog]

— The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale averaged 2.5. million viewers this past Saturday night, the last "TUF" finale that will air on Spike TV before the reality series shifts over to FX in 2012. The event also earned a household rating of 1.7, as well as ratings of 2.4 and 2.9 in the male 18-49 and 18-34 demographics, making it the highest-rated program on ad-supported cable in that age range. — With T.J. Grant sidelined due to injury, "TUF" season eight lightweight Efrain Escudero will return to the UFC to take on Jacob Volkmann in at UFC 141 on December at the 30 MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Escudero was abruptly released from the UFC after posting a 2-2 record, becoming only the second "TUF" winner to be released at the time. Since then, he has won five of six in regional promotions.
