Dan Lauzon will now go up against fellow lightweight Frank Latina at World Championship Fighting’s first event of 2008 this Friday night at the Aleppo Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
Lauzon’s original opponent, Andrew Calandrelli has been forced to pull out of the bout with an undisclosed injury. The promotion made the announcement over the weekend.
The 19-year-old younger brother of current UFC lightweight contender Joe Lauzon enters the bout riding a three-fight winning streak. All three of those wins have had Lauzon stop his opponent with strikes. Lauzon became the youngest fighter to ever compete inside the UFC in a losing effort against Spencer Fisher at UFC 64 in October 2006.
Latina remains undefeated so far in his professional mixed martial arts career. His most recent win was a submission of Cory Laplant at an Extreme Fighting International event in April of last year.
Those planning on attending the event can expect to have the chance to meet many notable names in the sport: Dana White, Marcus Davis, Kenny Florian, Murlio Rua, Sean Gannon, Jorge Rivera, Peter Welsh, and Mark DellaGrotte are all slated to be special guests at the show.
