UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz’s layoff from ACL surgery just got a little longer.
MMA Junkie is reporting that Cruz had to undergo a second surgery to replace his ACL after his body rejected one from a cadaver after the first operation. Cruz will meet with doctors this week to get an estimated timeline for return but it is expected he’ll be out from anywhere between nine months to a year.
Cruz originally underwent ACL surgery after he injured his knee while preparing for his fight with Urijah Faber. During the original surgery, Cruz has his ACL and MCL replaced.
The bad blood between Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz continues to boil and is going to make for a very interesting season of "TUF". In the above video, the two coaches discuss their feud and past fights with each other with Todd Harris on this week's episode of "UFC Tonight".
Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz will coach opposite each other on the upcoming 15th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" reality show before fighting in a rubber match next summer.
The UFC announced the pairing on Tuesday evening. The latest edition of "TUF" will be the first to air on FX and is scheduled to debut in March.
Lightweights and welterweights are scheduled to compete for two six-figure UFC contracts. Faber and Cruz will be the first bantamweights to coach the show since its inception.
