A lightweight bout between Muay Thai expert Malaipet Team Diamond and budding prospect David Douglas will reportedly take place at the latest edition of ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series, which will take place at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California on September 26th.
Sam Caplan of Five Ounces of Pain has confirmed the matchup with EliteXC VP Jared Shaw. The two were originally slated to compete in a non-televised preliminary bout at EliteXC’s “Unfinished Business” event on July 26, but Malaipet was forced to withdraw from the fight after sustaining an injury during the week prior to the bout.
Malaipet won an unanimous decision over Kaleo Kwan last October before being disqualified in a controversial bout against King of the Cage veteran Thomas Denny in March. Malaipet illegally struck Denny in the back of the neck with elbows and Denny was eventually deemed unable to continue.
Douglas has fought twice in the last month. He stopped replacement opponent Marlon Matias with strikes in the first round of their July 26 bout and followed that performance up with a first-round TKO of William Jacobson at a ShoXC event on August 15.

While their first bout in April ended in controversy and left many lingering questions, Friday’s battle between Jared Hamman and Poai Suganuma did anything but as Hamman stopped Suganuma via first-round TKO in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Table Mountain Casino in Friant, California.
Early on, it appeared as if Suganuma was about to have Hamman’s number again as the Hawaiian dropped Hamman and battered him with punches on the ground during the fight’s opening moments. However the tide began to turn once Hamman successfully executed a judo throw that sent Suganuma stumbling to the canvas.
Hamman quickly took his opponent’s back but Suganuma was quick to shake Hamman off of him and stand up. Hamman proceeded to stun Suganuma with a straight right and then knocked him down with a combination. Suganuma bounced up and tried to take the fight to the ground but Hamman was relentless with his strikes, pounding away on Suganuma with hammer fists until the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

Robbie Lawler prevented history from repeating itself Saturday night as he wore down Scott Smith before finally finishing him with a barrage of knees in the second round of their EliteXC middleweight title fight at the Stockton Arena in California.
The two exchanged blows for the second time in two months, this instance serving as the main event of EliteXC’s “Unfinished Business” event, which became the promotion’s second such show to be broadcast on primetime network television via CBS. Their original meeting saw both men battle back and forth for fifteen minutes before Lawler inadvertently poked Smith in the eye in the third round. The ringside doctor ultimately ruled that Smith was unable to continue due to vision problems and the fight was ruled a no-contest.
Early on, it looked as if Lawler would once again earn a decisive opening round in his favor, stunning Smith with a trio of jabs. Smith bounced back however, continuing to push the pace and catching Lawler with a right hand late in the round, following up with a flurry that swung momentum in his favor. Smith then opened up a cut just inches away from the previous one Lawler suffered in their first bout. The blood forced Lawler to turn it up a notch, leading to a flurry of knees in the clinch that knocked Smith down twice.
