Hominick to Face Mesa at TKO 31

TKO Championship Fighting has announced that former TKO featherweight champion Mark “The Machine” Hominick will step into the cage at TKO 31: Young Guns with Rage in the Cage veteran Yaotzin Mesa.

Mark Hominick is a veteran of the UFC, WEC and TKO who sports a professional MMA record of 14-7. Hominick holds victories over Yves Edwards, Jorge Gurgel, Stephane Vigneault, and Doug Edwards. After suffering two tough losses, Hominick returned to TKO in September to face Ben Greer. Hominick was adamant about stepping into the cage and imposing his striking game on the highly touted Greer (10-3). Hominick did just that ending the contest at 1:14 of the first round when he sent Greer to the canvas with a vicious straight right.

Yaotzin Mesa is a veteran for Rage in the Cage who sports a MMA record of 6-3. Mesa lost his first three MMA appearances but since then he has reeled off six straight victories.

Davis vs Letourneau Set For TKO 31

Marco Antico is reporting that TKO Championship Fighting will hold their second female MMA fight Dec. 14 at TKO 31: Young Guns when Alexis Davis and Valerie Letourneau meet in the TKO cage.

Alexis Davis, a member of Dayboll Jiu-Jitsu, sports a professional MMA record of 2-1. Davis holds impressive victories over Jody Wadsworth and Tannaya Hantelman. Davis’ sole loss came to the hands of Sarah Kaufman in her MMA debut at UCW 7: Anarchy earlier this year.

Standing 5’7 and weighing 135 lbs, Letourneau is a well rounded fighter who possesses a professional MMA record of 1-1. Letourneau made her TKO debut in June at TKO 29: Repercussion losing Sarah Kaufman partway through the second round.

According to report, Letourneau and Davis have agreed to meet at a catch weight of 130 lbs.

TKO 31: Young Guns

TKO Championship Fighting has announced that TKO 31 will now be titled “Young Guns” instead of “Ultimatum.” TKO 31: Young Guns will take place Friday, Dec. 14 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

Marco Antico is reporting that Jesse Bongfeldt will make his first TKO welterweight title defense on Feb. 22, 2008 against T.J. Grant at TKO 32.

Bossé vs Larenas Added to TKO 31

TKO Championship Fighting has announced that Steve Bossé and Icho Larenas will be featured as the main event at TKO 31: Ultimatum.

Steve Bossé is a crowd favorite who possesses an unblemished MMA record of 2-0. Bossé made his TKO debut in July defeating David Fraser by TKO early in the first round of their bout. Bossé‘s next TKO appearance came in September at TKO 30: Apocalypse where he TKO’d Jody Burke early in the first round.

Following his fight in September, Bossé returned to the LNAH where he continued to hone his hockey skills with the Summum-Chiefs de St-Jean. So far Bossé has appeared in 5 games amassing 20 PIM along with 4 fighting majors.

Former TKO heavyweight champion Icho Larenas sports a MMA record of 3-3. Larenas is a large heavyweight who possesses excellent punching power. Larenas holds victories over the likes of Jacob Conliffe, Yan Pellerin, and Brian MaGee.

Vigneault vs Greer Set For TKO 31

MMA on Tap has learned that Stephane Vigneault will face Ben Greer at TKO 31 on Dec. 14 at The Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

Stephane Vigneault last appeared in the cage in January 2006 losing to Damaicio Page at TKO 24: Eruption. Vigneault is back and ready to make an impact in the TKO featherweight division. Vigneault was originally scheduled to return at TKO 30: Apocalypse but his fight was cancelled after it was announced he was suffering from a case of staph.

The native of Iles de la Madeleine, Quebec sports a TKO record of 9-4. “Simba” holds victories over the likes of Shane Rice, Stephane Laliberte, Greg Compton, and Phillipe Simoneau. Vigneault’s four losses came to the hands of Damacio Page, Mark Hominick, Stephane Laliberte, and J.F. Bolduc.

Vigneault’s opponent, Ben Greer, is currently ranked #5 in the TKO featherweight division. Greer sports a mixed martial arts record of 10-3 with victories over the likes of Thierry Quenneville, Randy Turpin, and Justin Tavernini. Greer made his TKO debut at TKO 30: Apocalypse suffering a TKO loss to the hands of former champ Mark “The Machine” Hominick.

- FEG apparently does not see World Victory Road, Japan’s newest MMA organization, as a potential enemy:

“As for the Japanese MMA market, fans have been dwindling since the loss of PRIDE. No part of me sees this new organization as an enemy, and I would like to find places in which we can cooperate,” said FEG Representative Director Sadaharu Tanigawa.

- Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz has been cast in the new celebrity version of “The Apprentice” on NBC. Ortiz’s fellow cast mates potentially include Omarosa, John Cena, Lennox Lewis, Stephen Baldwin, Gene Simmons, Carol Alt, Vinny Pastore, and Marilu Henner according to TMZ.

- The Fight Network is reporting that representatives from HDNet Fights have confirmed that the promotion is planning to hold it’s second event on December 15th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Steve Bossé Impresses at TKO 30

LNAH heavyweight Steve “The Boss” Bossé made his second appearance in TKO this past weekend dismantling last minute replacement Jody Burke. Watching the video it’s evident that Bossé is a huge draw in Quebec and with the proper marketing, training and management, Bossé has the potential to become a legit star and force in the MMA world.

Training with Team Tompkins in London, Ontario, Hominick is a 9 time TKO featherweight champion and a UFC veteran. Hominick holds victories over the likes of Yves Edwards, Jorge Gurgel, Ben Greer, and Stephane Vigneault.

Yesterday, Hominick fought and defeated Ben Greer at TKO 30: Apocalypse throwing himself back into contention for the TKO featherweight title which is currently held by Shooto veteran Hatsu Hioki.
