Wanderlei Silva has been announced as part of the Pride’s USA debut on October 21st - all signs point towards his bout against Chuck Liddell being all but cancelled. UFC President Dana White has been rumored to be making announcement regarding this and the third fight between Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock at UFC 62 this Saturday.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that they have hired Marshall Zelaznik to head the newly created position of President of their UK Division.
Marshall Zelaznik’s job will be “exporting and managing the UFC brand overseas to the United Kingdom and other parts of English and non-English speaking Europe.”
UFC President Dana White has told the Calgary Sun that the much anticipated matchup between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva may now not even happen.
“I don’t even know if Silva’s going to happen,” said Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He cited problems in dealing with the Japan-based Pride Fighting Championships that is home to Silva.
White also added that UFC 65 may feature the winner of Liddell-Babalu against the winner or Ortiz-Shamrock if things don’t work out.
Former PRIDE play-by-play announcer Mauro Ranallo will join The Fight Network this September. Ranallo will be the network’s lead news anchor for a Sportscenter-type of show starting later this year.

Mike Garrow, President of The Fight Network recently wrote a letter to the fans of MMAWeekly.com. In the letter he stated that ‘The Fight Network’ is very committed to MMAWeekly.com and he gave an update on the radio show and site. The radio show will continue with Frank Trigg as the host along side a co-host to be named.
UFC President Dana White held a press conference on ESPN earlier today announcing the rematch of Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 63 on September 23rd. The event will take place once again at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. Hughes beat St. Pierre the first time around, forcing him to tap out via armbar at the end of the first round at UFC 50.
How do I even say this? We’ll although unofficial, it seems that we now have a co-main event for the upcoming UFC 62 - A rematch of the best fight in UFC history: Stephan Bonnar will take on Forrest Griffin. The Boston Herald released an article yesterday, previewing the matchup that will supposedly take place on August 26th. UFC’s website has a statement asking fans to tune into ESPN tomorrow during The Hot List for a huge announcement.
My guess is that White will be announcing this fight for UFC 62. But could there be something more?

While the rumors about Tito Ortiz and UFC President Dana White sparring against each other have been circling for some time now, it seems like the two are getting closer to actually making it happen. Both Ortiz and White stated that the sparring match would indeed happen in the near future. Unforunately for all of us, the spectacle will occur behind closed doors.
WFA CEO Jeremy Lappen was in attendance at the Mandalay Bay Saturday to watch UFC 61: Bitter Rivals. Lappen was given a front row ticket from his former client Ken Shamrock. Just minutes into the event a UFC official along with three security guards escorted Lappen out of the Casino. No real reason was provided.
